Tiletoria Head Office & Showroom

1. The Project Brief
Tiletoria, one of South Africa’s foremost tile, stone, and sanitaryware distributors, issued a high-profile tender for the total renovation of its Cape Town regional head office and architectural showroom. Next Level Superstructures submitted the winning competitive tender. Upon removing external facades, severe latent structural damage and persistent water ingress were uncovered, requiring immediate engineering intervention alongside the interior showroom overhaul.
2. Site Constraints & Regulatory Mandates
The project carried an immoveable grand opening date with national media, property developers, and architects invited. Uncovering historical structural water leaks threatened catastrophic schedule delays. The works had to overcome unpredictable Cape winter downpours that risked curing failure on external plaster and waterproofing membranes.
3. Specialized Trades & Engineering Deployed
4. Programme Duration & Shift Execution
Andrew Gill deployed a round-the-clock 24-hour schedule, operating three 8-hour shift teams of up to 52 artisans simultaneously. Work was sequenced dynamically based on real-time meteorological weather forecasts to guarantee proper plaster hydration and paint curing times.
5. Verified Outcome & Handover Quality
Delivered ahead of schedule despite substantial unforeseen structural variations. Tiletoria Managing Director Patrick Thonissen noted in an official recommendation letter: "At one point he was working 24 hours a day with 3 teams of up to 52 workers... He turned out to be the best contractor on site compared to all other trades. We held a braai in their honor after they completed the work."
"We at Tiletoria have no hesitation at recommending Andrew Gill of Next Level Superstructures for any painting, waterproofing, plastering or construction work. We recently received 3x quotes on our building renovations. Andrew not only came in at the best price but finished ahead of the time frame that was required to open the new Tiletoria showroom. During the work after removing facades we found complications that required extra work. Nothing was a problem to Andrew. At one point he was working 24 hrs a day (around the clock) working 3x teams of up to 52 workers / artisans. Then we had waterproofing issues which he also tackled. He repainted the whole Tiletoria building with quite a few complications en-route, without any issues & still finished ahead of schedule. Initially we were nervous of giving him the job as the cheapest quote but thankfully he turned out to be the best contractor on site compared to all the other trades that all ran late (behind schedule). He knew ahead of time what the weather was going to do & planned accordingly. He knew how long the cement / plastering curing time that was required & boxed around this too wasting no time. His team was really motivated & dedicated, so much so that we held a braai in their honor after they completed the work."
